Physicist Lisa Randall awarded an honorary doctorate by the UAB
Harvard professor in theoretical physics and renowned science communicator Lisa Randall was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Randall pointed out the surprising connections between the most abstract physics and the reality of our everyday world.
Environmental Volunteering programme picks up 83kg of trash in UAB’s forest in less than 2 hours
Within the framework of the Let’s Clean Up Europe campaign, the FAS Environmental Team took part in a cleaning action in UAB’s forest. The aim was to protect biodiversity on campus and to restore its natural environment. They built a figure with the trash picked up in order to raise awareness on the issue.
Health and Sustainability Week at the UAB
From 1 to 5 April over 40 free activities will be available for the UAB community: workshops, conferences, walks, sports, etc. On Wednesday 3 April, there will be music performances and healthy food offered by food-trucks at the Rambla Nord.
Deborah Coen to speak at the CEHIC on climate study and its connections with 19th century Vienna
Yale University's Professor Deborah Coen will be offering a seminar on 15 March at 12 noon at the Centre for the History of Science (CEHIC) on her latest book Climate in Motion: Science, Empire, and the Problem of Scale. The seminar is open to all those interested in attending.

The UAB community has organised a series of events to celebrate International Women's Day which will be held before, on and after 8 March.
The Generalitat opens the call for 18 new Serra Húnter lecturers at the UAB
The government of Catalonia soon will open a new call for 18 lecturers at the UAB under the Serra Húnter Programme. The international call to apply for positions will be open from 4 March to 1 April 2019.
Hot chocolate to raise funds for child cancer research
On 14 February from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the UAB will be offering hot chocolate beverages to raise money for child cancer research projects at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.
