A research led by researchers at the Department of Physics of the UAB has managed to emulate learning neuromorphic abilities using thin layers of cobalt oxide. The experiment, performed at the ALBA Synchrotron, is a new step towards brain-inspired computers.

The Wassu UAB Foundation recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for an awareness-raising programme among Gambia's female leaders against the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM). The strategy of the Wassu UAB Foundation's of raising awareness and providing training, in both home and host countries, has helped the index of FGM in Gambia to fall by 13% in girls aged 4 or younger between the years 2010 and 2020, according to data from DHS and UNICEF.

To celebrate the 11 of February, the Day of Women and Girls in Science, this year the UAB will organise a joint event between the Observatory for Equality, the Faculty of Sciences, the Faculty of Biosciences and the School of Engineering. The Clowns Without Borders (Pallassos Sense Fronteres) and Trauma, Crisis and Conflicts Unit of Barcelona (UTCCB) at the Psychology and Speech Therapy Services of the UAB Faculty of Psychology, have joined forces once again to improve the emotional and psychological situation of children suffering from post traumatic stress disorder in Lebanon and Colombia.

The UAB’s crowdfunding platform recently launched a campaign entitled “1 estudiant, 1 euro”, addressed to undergraduate students interested in donating to a research project conducted by the Gene Therapy for the Central Nervous System research group. Donations will go towards finding a treatment for a rare disease affecting only 45 children in the world. One of these children is Abril, who lives in Spain and is 5 years old.
