Master description

The Master’s Degree in Anthropology: Advanced Research and Social Intervention carries 60 ECTS credits and is organised into two specialisations:

  1. Ethnographic and Cross-Cultural Research
  2. Sociocultural and Environmental Intervention

The Master’s degree carries 27 ECTS credits common to the two specialisations, in which different theoretical and methodological perspectives in the field of research and intervention in social and cultural anthropology are worked on, as well as ethical and political implications of the planning and design of research and intervention activities in social and cultural anthropology.

The remaining 33 ECTS credits are made up of:

• 12 ECTS credits for the Master’s degree dissertation, which consists of an original research or intervention project by each student.

• 21 compulsory ECTS credits for each specialisation. In the case of the Ethnographic and Transcultural Research, they are structured as one subject worth 9 ECTS credits and another worth 12 ECTS credits (annual). In the case of the Sociocultural and Environmental Intervention, there is one subject worth 15 ECTS credits and the subject of Professional Practices, of 6 ECTS credits. In all these subjects, theoretical, methodological and contextual issues specific to different areas of advanced research or social intervention in anthropology are worked on.

The curriculum is spread over two semesters (a single academic year).
