Ideal student profile
The admission profile corresponds to that of graduates in Psychology and also to that of graduates in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences.
University graduates in Health Sciences or Education who are interested in the field of the master’s program may also be admitted.
Knowledge
- Identify the main theoretical and research models in sports psychology and physical activity.
- Recognise the psychological and physiological factors that influence the development of school-age sport, performance, sports dropout and the practice of physical activity.
- Recognise the pedagogical and social factors involved in the development of sport at school age, in performance, sports dropout and the practice of physical activity.
- Describe the key intervention models in the fields of sports psychology and physical activity, recognising their social, economic and environmental impact.
Skills
- Analyse the psychological factors that influence sports initiation, performance and dropout.
- Use the terminology of psychology or any field related to the psychology of sport and physical activity correctly.
- Apply guidance or intervention programmes with psychological content appropriate to the field of sports and physical activity based on case resolution.
- Analyse the theories, models and research methods in the psychology of sport and physical activity in order to respond to the needs and demands of society.
- Analyse the results of the psychological assessment, integrating them into the information set in order to intervene in the field of sports psychology and physical activity.
- Identify the scientific evidence that supports professional development in the psychology of sport and physical activity.
Competences
- Design an applied psychological research project in sports and physical activity psychology, detailing its planning .
- Design guidance or intervention programmes with psychological content in accordance with the ethical and legal principles related to the degree programme.
- Generate oral and written reports of the results of the intervention, including analysis and interpretation. of psychological assessment information, in accordance with legal requirements for communication with other professionals.
- Integrate ethical responsibility, sociocultural diversity and the conditioning factors associated with initiation, performance and abandonment of sport, as well as the practice of physical activity.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programmes that include psychological content in the context of sport and healthy physical activity.
- Evaluate the role of the different actors involved in sports environments or the promotion of healthy physical activity based on practical cases.
- Work in multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary teams in the context of professional practice in sports environments or the promotion of healthy physical activity.
- Judging discipline-specific situations based on ethical and social considerations and identifying inequalities based on sex/gender.
- Evaluate, using technologies and information systems, as well as techniques and instruments, the data and information relevant to the intervention in initiation, performance and abandonment of sports as well as in quality physical activity.
- Interpret quantitative and qualitative results derived from research in sports psychology and physical activity.
- Design autonomous work plans with task planning aimed at solving the challenges of the discipline.
- Communicate assertively, rigorously, and effectively with different audiences, both academic and from the field of work applied in sports environments.
