  • To explain the history of gender relations, the significance of differences and the processes of generating inequalities in a context of globalization. 
  • Interpret the inequalities that affect gender in relation to sexuality, class, ethnic group and territory based on the concepts and approaches of sociocultural analysis.
  • Interpret the conceptual bases of feminist theories. 
  • Identify the basic legal concepts, legislation and jurisprudence related to the rights of groups affected by gender inequalities.
  • Make judgments on relevant aspects related to gender based on significant data on the psychological configuration of the human being, as well as those that come from the physical and social environment.
  • Identify the different types, contexts, and expressions of patriarchal violence in relation to the structural explanatory factors that sustain inequality, stigma, and violence.

Skills

  • To question gender representations in the history of ideas, arts and culture, as well as in the construction of scientific knowledge.
  • To analyse the main discursive phenomena related to the construction and expression of gender identities, taking into account linguistic and social variation.
  • Apply sociocultural knowledge of gender issues to the detection of biases present in reports and plans prepared by health centers and psychological care services.
  • Propose corrective actions for the violence triggered by the types and degrees of discrimination based on sex, gender and sexual orientation.
  • To design socio-educational action processes to encourage citizen participation in equality issues.
  • To apply the quantitative and qualitative methods, techniques and tools of social research to gender studies. 
  • Include the gender perspective in the analysis and evaluation of equality policies in the economic (budgets, work organization, structural inequality) and labor (wages, promotion, work-life balance) spheres, as well as in the preparation of reports aimed at possible intervention in this area. 
  • To propose inclusive discourses and communicative practices from the point of view of gender equity in audiovisual media and educational environments.
  • Critically use data and documentary sources, both quantitative and qualitative, in relation to the field of gender studies.
  • Debate ones own and others' ideas in a respectful, critical and reasoned way, through a correct, non-homophobic and non-sexist expression, both orally and in writing.
