Course in Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour

The aim of this course is for students to learn about suicide and suicidal behaviours: their definitions, epidemiological data, aetiological factors, risk factors, protective factors and prognostication. Students are equipped with theoretical and methodological tools to examine, assess and provide care for persons at risk of suicide. Attention is paid to assessment and care for particularly vulnerable sub-groups, and to recommendations on suicide prevention at global level.
The teaching combines theory with work on clinical vignettes to foster application of the concepts acquired.
