Therapeutic riding has recently been introduced in our country, unlike countries such as Italy, France, or Germany, which have more than 25 years of experience.
However, there is already a widespread recognition in Catalonia and Spain regarding the benefits of equine therapy for certain pathologies, disabilities, and/or mental health problems, so more and more specialized centers and affected individuals are interested in this alternative and incorporate it into their therapeutic program.
Equine therapy is a non-conventional and complementary therapeutic alternative based on neuroevolutionary hypotheses. It is considered that this therapy is capable of achieving new stimuli complementary to those obtained with traditional treatments.
The training of professionals, both in the field of health and education, will help improve the well-being and quality of life of people with emotional, cognitive, psychomotor, sensory, and/or social exclusion problems.
This course aims to introduce the therapeutic principles and benefits provided by horse-assisted therapy to people with different types of disabilities, social adaptation problems, and mental health issues, and to develop skills to care for these groups of people through equestrian activity.
