02/03/2016

The UAB will be showcasing its academic programmes for the 2016-2017 academic year at the Saló de l'Ensenyament (9 to 13 March) and Futura (11 and 12 March). The course offer for 2016-2017 features a new Open Bachelor's Degree in Languages and Literatures and a common access path to the degrees in Telecommunication Engineering. Both education fairs will take place at the Montjuïc Fair venue. The UAB will offer information on its undergraduate degrees at the Saló de l'Ensenyament (Hall 2) and on its postgraduate degrees at the Saló Futura (Hall 5). It will also present its advanced vocational training courses.

Open Bachelor's Degree in Languages and Literatures

In academic year 2016-2017, there will be two new additions to the UAB degree course offer. On the one hand, the Open Bachelor's Degree in Languages and Literatures will be offered for the first time, allowing two specialisations to be combined in the first year before continuing with just one of them from the second year on. This should be of interest to students who are finding it hard to choose between different programmes in language and literature.

It is a novel way to access four Language and Literature programmes taught by the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts: Catalan Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Literature, Classical Studies and French Studies.

During the first year, students will take classes from two language programmes. And from the second year on, students will continue with the programme they like best. They will be advised by a personal tutor before and after making their choice.

This version does not mean having to take more time to obtain the degree. Moreover, it lets students obtain one of the specialisations (mencions) offered by the Faculty and, if they wish, complete the other programme that they began in the first year, and so obtain two bachelor's degrees.

Common access path to telecommunication engineering programmes

The second novelty in the upcoming academic year is that access to telecommunication engineering bachelor's degree studies will be unified in one path through a single university pre-registration code number. First-year students will take common basic-training subjects and second-year students will take common subjects from the telecommunications branch.

Then, in the third and fourth years, they can specialise in telecommunication electronics or in telecommunication systems. In this way they go on to graduate in Electronic Engineering or in Telecommunication Systems.

Advanced vocational training courses

Those graduating from the advanced vocational training courses (CFGS), organised by the UAB Formació Professional, become qualified advanced technicians. The UAB offers the possibility of transferring your credits once you are admitted to university. The UAB is the first public university to offer, through its foundation, these types of courses with the added value of university quality and an official certification in English and French.

New as well this next 2016-2017 academic year, the UAB will offer an advanced vocational training course in International Trade with emphasis on China: with an introduction to the culture, customs, protocols and language. The UAB will also be offering a course in Administration of Cuisine, with the collaboration of renowned Catalan chef Ada Parellada.

Opening hours

The Saló de l'Ensenyament will be open from 9 am to 7 pm from Wednesday to Friday; from 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday; and from 10 am to 2 pm on Sunday. In addition to the degrees and courses, the UAB will inform on all of its services for the university community and there will be scientific activities at the Science and Technology area, also located in Hall 2. Activities will focus on physics, geography, bioscience, engineering, geology, optics and nanoscience.

With regards to Saló Futura, the master's degrees and postgraduate studies fair, the UAB will be present to offer information on all its programmes from 10 am to 8 pm. Tickets cost €5 if bought online and €8 at the entrance of the fair. Students with a university card will receive a 25% discount.
