From 12 to 17 September a new edition of International Welcome Days (IWD) will take place; a week full of activities for new international students attending the UAB for the 2016/17 academic year. The IWD allow international students to get to know the campus, services and students’ associations. It is also a great opportunity to meet other international and local students at the university.

The first activity will be the Students Associations and UAB Services Fair, which will take place at 12 pm in front of the Cinema. International students will have the chance to learn about the entire network of associations at university, as well as activities organised throughout the year and how to join them. Following there will be a welcome session at the Cinema, where Màrius Martínez, Vice Rector for International Relations, and the Community Involvement Unit will welcome students and introduce them to the activities programmed during the year. Fiona Kelso will also participate, introducing the students to the linguistic context of our university.

The most remarkable activities of the week are the ones organised by Swing UAB, a masterclass on 13 September, and Ganàpies UAB, an open rehearsal on 15 September. Both activities will take place at 1 pm at the Plaça Cívica.

In this frame on intercultural exchange, there will also be an activity entirely focused on food. The International Lunch allows incoming and local students to share food from their countries. The local students participating in the Mentor programme will host the meal. Right after that, at 3 pm, the Tàndem will get started, where local and international students can practise languages in groups.

The IWD will end with a walk around Barcelona and a picnic at the Ciutadella Park. With this activity students will get to know not only other students, and keep on with the cultural exchange, but also discover their surroundings in a more relaxing and enjoyable way. Mentor students will lead the groups and share with international students their passion and knowledge about Barcelona.
