Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Human Diseases Models Morphological Phenotyping

The MorphoPHEN programme is a 60 ECTS multidisciplinary and international master's degree on human disease models. It is conceived to alleviate the real shortage of experts in morphological mouse phenotyping, which is needed to generate a positive impact of preclinical biomedicine and improve human translatability (from the bench to the bedside).

By combining the expertise of the 4 university partners and the international experience of 18 associated partners of excellence in the field of mouse biomedicine, the programme will deliver a comprehensive and integrated training in mouse anatomy, pathobiology, imaging, pathology, experimental design and deep learning technologies.

Students will begin at Barcelona learning mouse anatomy, histology, embryology, and the basis of pathobiology.

Then, students in Naples will explore the different imaging technologies available for the mouse.

At Thessaloniki, students will learn the basis of experimental design, and the deep learning technologies and algorithms used to discover morphological patterns in mouse images will be used.

Finally, at Lisbon and the rest of universities, through the compulsory master thesis, students will integrate knowledge and skills to independently perform and report on a dedicated research study.

These subjects will be covered by worldwide experts from partner universities and associated partners, including the industry partners.

The MorphoPHEN master's degree includes Erasmus+ Joint Master Degree grants offered by the European Union.
