Master description

The master's degree comprises 60 credits and is divided into two specialisations: "Research in Musicology and Music Education" and "Interpretation of Ancient Music".
The first specialisation covers research in Musicology (historic and ethnomusicology) and in Musical Education, while the second covers Interpretation of Early Music based on criteria of musicology and practical applications of knowledge generated by research.
Both specialisations share the common module "Research Methodologies in Musicology and Interpretative Research Applications".
Students will take the annual module "Master's dissertation" for 15 credits.
For the external work placement, which depends on the instrument that students stated in their application, agreements have been signed with various international institutions, such as: Jeune Orquestre Atlantique (Saintes, France; baroque, classical and romantic repertoire), Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Basel, Switzerland, 16th to 19th century repertoire), Institut Ferran el Catòlic (Saragossa; historical organs and keyboard instruments), CIMA-Centre Internacional de Música Antiga (Barcelona, headed by Jordi Savall and with the participation of the Capella Reial de Catalunya).
