Ideal student profile

The admission profile for the master’s degree requires training in fields related to engineering, technological or economic science.

Knowledge

  • Recognise and relate terminology in the field of LSCM.
  • List and define general concepts and strategies in the field of LSCM planning and management.
  • Identify key performance indicators and quality factors in the field of LSCM.
  • Find the most promising strategies based on analytical or quantitative methods in order to help tackle problems in the field of activity and resource planning.
  • Identify the most appropriate optimisation or simulation methods to support strategic, tactical and operational decision-making processes.
  • Find relevant and available technology that will help plan, manage and coordinate logistics operations concerning supply, production, distribution and services.
  • Identify gender stereotypes and roles and their possible impact on professional practice.

Skills

  • Analyse, organise and discuss logistical situations in order to identify and model the usual dependence, influence and impact relationships on the main performance indicators and quality factors, then evaluate their complexity.
  • Select and apply the most relevant strategies and methodologies to develop solutions to problems related to the management and coordination of resources, processes and material, information and financial flows.
  • Select and apply the most relevant current technologies to develop solutions to problems related to the management and coordination of material, information and financial flows.
  • Evaluate the benefits of applying new strategies, analytical methodologies and/or technologies to LSCM problem solving and assess the impact.
  • Apply quantitative techniques based on optimisation and/or simulation models in order to evaluate various alternatives and select the most promising solution.
  • Justify and defend solutions to problems related to LSCM through oral and written communication in English, demonstrating synthesis and presentation skills.

Competences

  • Address problems related to logistics management and coordination in terms of production, transport and services using a holistic approach.
  • Compile, adapt and/or combine general supply chain management concepts and strategies, relevant environmental considerations and quality, technological and financial factors in a consistent, systematic and integrated way.
  • Develop and/or compile solid arguments supported by quantitative models and analytical methods, to convince and motivate decision-makers and to plan and coordinate the project and implement the solution.
  • Select the best supply chain partners and plan and coordinate the project in order to implement the solution.
  • Compile, analyse and manage the information obtained from relevant sources, keeping in mind the gender perspective and the bias this may entail, as well as documenting and reflecting on the problem-solving process in order to identify the lessons that have been learned.
  • Tackle new challenges in the field of LSCM from a scientific perspective in order to devise and propose a rigorous and efficient approach to problem solving.
  • Gather and formulate the main elements that need to be planned in order to solve a problem, specifying the limitations of the project and proposing a solution.
