Admission Official Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Catalan Language and Literature

Access

Access to this master's degree is open to holders of an official bachelor's degree from a Spanish university or from another higher education institution within or outside the European Higher Education Area, provided this gives access to postgraduate studies in the country of issue.

Admission requirements

To be admitted to the master's degree you must hold an official university degree issued in Spain or in another EHEA country, or an equivalent qualification if your degree was issued in another country.

Selection criteria

In the case of there being more applicants than places available, the following criteria will be applied:

  • Adequacy of your degree within the field of Catalan Studies: 30%
  • Academic transcript: 30%
  • Motivation letter: 20%
  • Curriculum vitae: 10%
  • Recommendation letters 10%

The Admissions Committee may deem it necessary to carry out a personal interview.

Complementary training

The master's degree in Advanced Studies in Catalan Language and Literature is of 60 ECTS, with two areas of specialisation:

  1. Catalan linguistics
  2. Catalan literature

The master's degree consists of 30 ECTS credits common to both areas of specialisation, distributed in modules, of which one is annual. The remaining modules (30 ECTS credits) provide an obligatory module for each area of specialisation (10 ECTS credits) and two optional modules of 10 credits. For each area of specialisation, three optional modules are available; in addition, there is an optional external-placements module common to both areas of specialisation. All optional modules are of 10 credits.

The syllabus is divided into two semesters (over a single academic year) and provides either a more research-based focus or a focus with greater emphasis on professional-development skills, this latter especially for students in either of the two areas of specialisation who choose the external-placement module. Although the master's degree is attendance-based, two of the optional modules are only available as online study.
