The bachelor's degree offers a solid training in mathematics, physics, statistics, numerical methods, computational methods and quantum computing, all from an integrated and joint perspective. Upon completing the degree, you will be equipped with analytical and abstract, algorithmic and computational, and quantitative information handling abilities and skills needed to solve real problems.
The differential factor of the bachelor's degree in Compuational Mathematics and Data Analytics at the UAB consists in the fact that, whereas other data sciences offered in Catalonia's universities focus on the manipulation and exploitation of data with already existing tools and algorithms, the UAB trains professionals who are capable of developing new algorithms and tools for the optimisation, modelling and treatment of complex data.
Moreover, the UAB is a multidisciplinary university campus making up what we call a lab campus, a laboratory in which the practical application of data analysis can serve for different fields: health data, biological data, financial data, social data, etc.
Career options
As a graduate of this degree, you will be prepared to develop activities in companies, research centres and official organisms in which data is generated and managed, as well as in scientific modelling, simulation and consultancy. You will have acquired the training needed to adapt yourself to current and future problems, and understand each problem with its particularities in order to model and propose rigorous ad hoc predictions.
The five areas of application are:
- Public Administrations
- Health and natural sciences
- Economics and finances.
- Industry and services.
- Teaching and research.
