Margarita Arboix becomes new rector of the UAB
The auditorium of the Rectorat building was filled to full capacity in the investiture of Margarita Arboix as the new rector of the UAB. Among other issues, Dr Arboix, in her first speech as rector, asked for an end to the economic cutbacks and demanded that undergraduate and postgraduate credits have the same price. According to her, "there must be dialogue and participation" among all members of the university community.

Margarita Arboix invested new Rector of the UAB
On Monday 6 June, Margarita Arboix was sworn in as new Rector of the UAB in an event which took place at the Auditorium of the Rectorat building. Professor in Pharmacology, Dr Arboix was elected rector in the elections held this past 19 May.
Economists and professionals debate on the risks of financial markets
From 1 to 3 June, the UAB Casa Convalescència will host this year's conference of the International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS), co-organised with the UAB. The conference will focus on financial market risks and the role of institutions. The main speaker will be economist Viral Acharya.
Margarita Arboix elected Rector of the UAB
The provisional results give the victory to Margarita Arboix, who was elected Rector of the UAB in the elections held on 19 May. Margarita Arboix, professor of Pharmacology, received 60.56% of votes; and Antonio Méndez, professor of Theoretical Physics, 39.44%.
Information Session on Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions
On Tuesday 24 May the conference hall of the Rectorate building will host an information session on the new call for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (IF).
UAB bachelor's degrees improve positions in the "El Mundo" ranking
The UAB stands out once again in a ranking on the 50 most popular degrees in Spain according to El Mundo: the university improves its 2015 results and is now second in the ranking, surpassed only by the Complutense University of Madrid.
Seminar on new geographic information software tools
The UAB Laboratory of Geographic Information and Remote Sensing and ESRI España have jointly organised a seminar on 4 May at the Faculty of Science and Biosciences to present the new 10.4 version of ArcGIS.
