In his inaugural speech as rector of the UAB, Javier Lafuente called to the university community to be "innovative, disruptive and avant-garde" as part of an institution that "has gone from being a young university to becoming a great university".

Chemical Engineering Professor Javier Lafuente was elected new rector of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in the online elections which took place on 27 and 28 October.
From 21 October to 18 December the UAB Healthcare Service will hold its annual influenza vaccine campaign addressed to all university members, especially those at a high risk of developing flu-related complications or form part of risk groups.
The FAS volunteer programmes resume their activities after the summer holidays and call out to students who are interested in forming an active part of the university by participating in social actions: with prisons, schools, refugees, hospital patients, and the environment and health issues.
