Chemical Engineering Professor Javier Lafuente was elected new rector of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in the online elections which took place on 27 and 28 October.
A UAB team has developed a digital plant epidermis atlas, the first consultation tool of its type to exist until now, which will allow to advance in the research of the diets of herbivores. This open database shows the images of 400 plant species obtained through optical microscope.
From 21 October to 18 December the UAB Healthcare Service will hold its annual influenza vaccine campaign addressed to all university members, especially those at a high risk of developing flu-related complications or form part of risk groups.
The FAS volunteer programmes resume their activities after the summer holidays and call out to students who are interested in forming an active part of the university by participating in social actions: with prisons, schools, refugees, hospital patients, and the environment and health issues.
Five students from the Food Science and Technology have won the 11th edition of the Ecotrophelia España 2020 Competition, held with the objective of creating new ecological and innovative food products. The winning product consisted in a dessertin the form of a small cube.
The UAB opens its selection process for tenure-eligible lecturer and researcher positions under a new call for the Serra Húnter Programme which will be open until 10 September.
During the month of August, UAB campus services will have special opening hours and some will close for a short period. All work that can be done remotely or online will be given priority in all those areas in which presence is not mandatory.
The 2019/20 second semester evaluation questionnaires corresponding to the evaluation of distance teaching and of the tools and facilitites used during the covid-19 crisis are now available. Both questionnaires can be answered until 17 July.
