Álvaro Fernández Llamazares talks about ethnobotany in Armenia
ICTA-UAB researcher Álvaro Fernández Llamazares recently took part in the conference “Biological Sciences and Environmental Solutions for the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals”, held from September 24 to 26 at Yerevan State University, Armenia.

Invited by the Embassy of Spain in Armenia, Fernández Lamazares delivered a Keynote Plenary Lecture entitled “The global relevance of locally grounded ethnobiological research”, highlighting the importance of locally-based ethnobiological research in addressing global environmental and development challenges. He also served as a moderator in a session focused on the role of biology in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The conference brought together scientists, educators, policymakers, and professionals from various fields to discuss sustainable solutions to challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, food security, and water management. The event also celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Faculty of Biology and the 10th anniversary of the Research Institute of Biology at Yerevan State University, serving as a forum for international collaboration and high-impact scientific knowledge dissemination.
