This diploma course includes the subjects corresponding to the different fields of intensive medicine for small animals. Students will receive training in the systemic and specific pathologies of each organ or system. Through the exercises and practical modules students will acquire experience in the analysis and approach to clinical cases, as well as carrying out diagnostic tests or basic surgical procedures for stabilising or monitoring emergency or critical patients.
The three main subjects of the diploma are:
- Small Animal Emergency Medicine (12 ECTS credits) (Compulsory)
- Small Animal Intensive Care Medicine (9 ECTS credits) (Compulsory)
- Internship (3 ECTS credits) (Compulsory)
- Final work (6 ECTS credits) (Compulsory)

Specific skills
KT01: Demonstrate updated theoretical knowledge in different areas, both general and specialized in the medical specialty.
KT02: Carry out a prioritized and protocolized approach to clinical action in the sick patient.
ST01: Application of correct surgical techniques for each pathology in small animals.
ST02: Develop practical skills in the application of life support techniques, monitoring and both basic and advanced procedures of the medical specialty.
CT01: Interpret the information provided by the main methods of diagnosis, exploration and tests performed.
CT02: Collect clinical or bibliographic information, synthesize it, write it and present it with scientific criteria and in a documented, orderly and critical manner.
