This course offers an introduction to childhood trauma, aiming to provide basic knowledge about how traumatic experiences can affect the overall development of childrenaffectively, cognitively, socially, physically, and in various areas of their daily lives: family, school, and leisure environments. It is especially designed for professionals working with children, such as teachers, educators, and social workers, as well as for foster and adoptive families. Despite the relevance of this topic, it is often not addressed with the necessary depth in undergraduate studies due to its complexity and specialization. In recent years, the importance of offering specific training in this area has become evident. Many children have experienced traumatic situations that can have very different impacts depending on their personal characteristics. We are talking about situations such as physical or emotional abuse, contentious separations, exposure to domestic or school violence, sexual abuse, among others. These experiences can profoundly affect the development and socio-emotional relationships of children.
