The Lifelong learning Master's degree in Demography is a programme designed to introduce students to research and the study of populations. It takes part of the European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD). This School relocates every two to three years among the main Demographic Institutes in Europe. It was first run at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock (MPIDR, Germany) during the period 2005-07, at the Institut National d'Etudes Démographiques (INED) in Paris (France) between 2007-09, and has continued in this manner. In the 2011-13 academic years, the Centre for Demographic Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona hosted the School. More recently, from 2019-23, the CED again hosted the School again. Currently, the EDSD is once again being held at INED.

The professors of at this the School mainly come from the European research centers participating in the EDSD consortium. The EDSD is a unique experience that embodies the spirit of young Europeans seeking to acquire solid knowledge in demography and apply it professionally. In previous editions, up to about 20 students from European countries and around the world participated each year.
