Seven out of Fifty

According to the latest data from the Spanish Ministry for Education, the number of women enrolled in universities in Spani represent 54% of all students. Nevertheless, female presence is less than 40% when it comes to lecturers and only 20% among professors and chair professors. With regard to the governing structure of public universities, the only structure in which each university community group elects its rector through voting, there are currently only seven female rectors among the total of fifty Spanish universities.
