The period for submitting applications for the 2024 call for grants for research works of the EAPC is open

The School of Public Administration of Catalonia (EAPC) has already opened the deadline for submission of applications for the 2024 call for grants for research work on public administration and public policies. The purpose of the grants is to carry out innovative research work that generates new knowledge for the improvement of Catalonia's administrations and public policies and that has inclusive potential to involve society in the scientific process by providing concrete and capable solutions transformative
The call is open to all universities and research centers in Catalonia, with the particularity that the proposals presented must adopt a transdisciplinary approach and must include the participation of relevant social actors in the design and development of the research.
Thus, research teams are requested to be made up of three or more members, with at least one person from each of the following groups: academia, public administration and civil society. One of the people from the academic group acts as project manager and interlocutor with the EAPC, and one of the people from the Public Administration group acts as an institutional mentor.
To orient research projects to the real challenges of the Administration, the EAPC organizes a market of research challenges every year where the questions that the Public Administration must solve and for which it needs evidence, data or proposals are collected of solution Teams wishing to present a research project can be inspired or guided by consulting the 21 challenges collected this year. The people who have proposed these challenges would be included in the teams as institutional mentors as part of the Public Administration, as guarantors that the recommendations arising from the results of the project will be carried out.
Applications can be submitted between February 1 and March 1, 2024, they will be awarded within six months and will have an execution period of one year from the award, with a maximum amount of 12,000 euros per job. It is necessary to indicate in which field of those established in the call the work is presented: 1) Digital administration: needs, opportunities and risks; 2) The quality of public services; 3) The quality of the institutions; 4) Knowledge management: recruitment, retention and recognition of talent; management of the generational transition in public administrations, and 5) The governance of the public sector.
Among others, the assessment criteria will take into account the quality of the research team, that is to say, the suitability of the scientific and professional career of its members in relation to the proposed topic, interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, representativeness of the social actors involved or gender parity. The scientific quality of the project, the innovative potential, the expected social impact and the potential benefits generated by the results, the quality of project management and the adequacy of the budget will also be assessed.
To submit the request, you will need to fill in an electronic form and attach the project report (objectives, research team, work plan, expected impact and applicability, monitoring and evaluation, and budget) and the designation of the institutional mentor .
