Access
Access to this master's degree is open to holders of an official bachelor's degree from a Spanish university or from another higher education institution within or outside the European Higher Education Area, provided this gives access to postgraduate studies in the country of issue.Admission requirements
The admission requirements are as follows:
- Graduates in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Microbiology, Chemistry, Veterinary, Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering or Medicine, as well as graduates in studies in these fields from other countries.
- Proof of Catalan or Spanish language at level B2 (only when Catalan or Spanish is not the mother tongue). Knowledge of English at B2 level accredited by official degree. In the event that the student cannot prove knowledge of the required languages, the Master's Degree Committee will carry out an internal test and decide on the admission or exclusion of the student.
Selection criteria
Where the number of registered places exceeds the number of places offered, the allocation of places will be made in accordance with the following priority criteria:
- Academic record: up to 5 points.
- Studies carried out in the field of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine: up to 3 points.
- Previous professional or research experience in the field of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine: up to 2 points.
Complementary training
In some cases, students of Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering and Medicine may be required to complete and pass certain bridging courses.
Bridging courses are not part of the Master’s degree programme, and must be passed before beginning Master’s-level studies, since it is mandatory for students in these areas to have previous academic experience in molecular biology and protein chemistry as a foundation for Master’s-level coursework.
Students of Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering and Medicine who have not completed studies in molecular biology and protein chemistry as part of their undergraduate coursework must complete a minimum of 9 ECTS credits from the following Biochemistry and Biotechnology undergraduate courses:

The Master Commitee will analyse each student's previous coursework to determine whether any bridging courses are necessary.
