Diversity to be the star of the UAB's new academic year

Carpeta Unidiversitat
Aquesta és la nova carpeta de la UAB per al curs 2025-26.

The word “unidiversity”—which combines the words university and diversity–will be the main axis of the next 2025/26 academic year, in which the diversity of the UAB community will be advocated and the University will position itself in favour of diversity within society in general. In addition to the campaign and various actions that will take place throughout the year, the “unidiversity” will also be the star of the new UAB folder. “We are all the UAB” is the slogan that will accompany this year’s campaign.

The university aims to recognise, understand, accept and value diversity as a richness in the ways of existing and expressing oneself.

Based on the idea that a diverse society, community or organisation contains a wide variety of people representing different cultures, genders, sexual orientations, ages, religions, abilities, backgrounds, and physical, genetic or personal factors, the UAB will dedicate the 2025/26 academic year to diversity. The university aims to recognise, understand, accept and value diversity as a richness in the ways of existing and expressing oneself, and appreciate the uniqueness and differences of each individual.

For this reason, the UAB has created the concept of “unidiversity” which will be the star of the campaign for the new academic year (in student folders, bags, canvases, adverts, etc.), as well as in the inaugural lecture, the science carriage and in different actions carried out by the UAB for its university community.

Diversity in science will be the axis of the FGC science carriage, which each year the UAB and FGC dedicate to a scientific aspect that is disseminated among passengers. It will focus on the period beginning in the 1970s, in which the first criticisms of hegemonic scientific knowledge (masculine, white and western) arose and studies talking about the situation of women, racialised people, sexual minorities, etc., began to emerge in science. It was also a time in which new positions from which to investigate gender perspective, intersecionality, situated knowledge, etc. were being consolidated. All these forms of knowledge creation are characterised by understanding reality in a complex and diverse manner, both in terms of the topics under study and the theoretical position from which research is carried out.

Choice of gender

Another important new feature is that starting next year, each student will be able to choose the gender in which he/she wants to be addressed by the University and this will also be stated in the academic adaptation reports of those students who require it. Thus, at any given time each student will be able to change their gender information in the “My Profile” section of their academic record.
