Flickr. Allows you to limit images by size, colour, orientation and license. Always check the licenses for each image. 

FreeImages. Photographs that allow their use in projects, websites, and publications as long as they are cited. Please read the license.

Freepik. Large database of images (vectors, photos...). For personal or commercial use with attribution. Each image has its own license. 

FreeRange. Registration required. For personal or commercial use, but redistribution is not permitted. Please read the license carefully. 

Getty Images. Commercial database that allows its images to be inserted for free on non-commercial websites. 

Kaboompics. Search for photos by colour and view the corresponding palette. Note that the license permits all uses except for resale, so review it carefully.

Life of pix. High-resolution photographs in the public domain. Users can filter their search results by colour and orientation.

Magdeleine. High-resolution photographs in the public domain as well as others with CC license. Users can search for images by colour. 

Noun project. Powerful database of icons and photographs with CC-BY licenses or in the public domain. They offer payment options. 

Negative space. All its photographs are in the public domain. Users can search or browse by categories. 

 Openverse. Search engine that helps find images (illustrations, photos, clipart) and audio files. It is always necessary to verify the specific license they have. 

Pexels. Images of very good quality in the public domain. Page in several languages. Please refer to the license for more information.

Pics4Learning. Educational project that offers an image bank to be used in the classroom. The photographer retains the copyright. 

 Pixabay. Illustrations and photographs with a CC0 license (public domain). Pixabay is available in various languages. 

Pixnio. A high-quality image bank with public domain images, searchable by colour and orientation. Modify the size of the downloaded image. License.

Procomún. From the Spanish Ministry of Education. Contains images, videos, and sounds with CC licenses. Terms of use. 

Smithsonian Open Access. This institution provides access to three million images from their digital collections in the public domain. Terms of use.

Stockvault. The images (photos, textures, and illustrations) can have 3 types of licenses, one of which is public domain. Terms of use.

StockSnap.io. High-quality photographs with a CC0 license (public domain) that allows all types of use. Wide range of categories. License.

Unsplash. Read the license that does not allow selling without modification. Some images (Unsplash+) require a paid subscription.

British Library. Over 1 million images of books from the 17th-19th centuries in the public domain. You can view them thematically grouped in albums.

You may come across a photograph on the internet without any watermark or information about the author, making it difficult to determine its licensing for use. In this case, you have the option of doing a reverse image search, where you can use the image as a search pattern to find its original source. Some web browsers have extensions that allow you to perform this type of search. Other resources include: 

TinEye. A reverse image search engine that lets you find the original source of an image by providing its URL or uploading the image file.

Google Images. Protect your work and find the original author of an image with this search engine that uses a URL or uploaded image to find different versions.
