Cross-border workshop “Nature and Health” at Hospital de Cerdanya
On 4 May 2026, the BCNUEJ at ICTA-UAB co-organized the cross-border workshop “Nature and Health” at the Hospital de Cerdanya, together with the Contrat Local de Santé–Montagnes Catalanes.
The workshop brought together researchers, clinicians, environmental practitioners, protected area representatives, public institutions, and civic organizations from both sides of the Pyrenees, with the aim of collectively shaping a new cross-border network on nature and health.
Through facilitated plenary discussions and thematic working groups, participants identified shared priorities around therapeutic and equitable access to nature, mental health, climate refuges, biodiversity protection, social prescribing, environmental education, and the inclusion of vulnerable populations such as migrants, isolated elderly people, youth, and low-income communities.
The event highlighted the need to connect research, clinical practice, territorial action, and governance through applied and transdisciplinary approaches, while also addressing tensions between human health, ecosystem preservation, and climate adaptation.
