Philology collection of Josep Pons i Sabata
Description of the collection:
Josep Pons i Sabata (1921-2002) was a self-taught man of letters from Manresa, with very diverse interests especially in the fields of comparative linguistics, lexicography, onomastics, etymology and Catalan standard forms. In the professional field, he was the founder of Calculadores Pons, a family business with headquarters in Manresa.
Throughout his life he collected an important library, whose most valuable books have been left to several libraries of Manresa, the Monastery of Montserrat and the Humanities Library (thanks to Professor Teresa Espinal). This last part is specialized mainly in dictionaries in very diverse languages (some very minority) and in books of lexicology. It is a collection of more than 400 works.
