On Thursday, June 17 at 7:00 p.m., the Theater Workshop for people over 50 will take to the stage its premiere of its own original production, a new version of the classic “The Canterville Ghost”. It will do so at the Sala Teatre UAB with one of the first public performances of the season. Admission will be free, but to attend it will be necessary to fill out a previous form due to the limited capacity of the space. This form will be available from Tuesday, June 15 at 12 noon.

This remake of Oscar Wilde's classic "The Canterville Ghost" is based on the modern adaptation by playwright Joan Yago. Yago's version takes the events to a more recent context: the 1950s, the consequences of the Second World War and the well-known Marshall Plan. In this new setting, we relive the story of two antagonistic families: the Cantervilles, part of the traditional English aristocracy, and the Otis, who represent the newly rich Americans. All this with the irony, humour and paranormal touch of the original text by Wilde.

The Theater Workshop for people over 50 has nearly a decade of history and has always been directed by Marta Sorribas, a graduate in Dramatic Art in the Barcelona Institute of Theater. The workshop was born as part of the cycle of activities of the "Universitat a l'Abast" program, which seeks to promote training for members of the UAB community over 50 years of age. As of the 2018-2019 academic year, it became linked to the Culture in Viu programming and since then they have jointly organized their annual self-produced premieres.
