The ExpoNaturaUAB animal photography contest has virtually published on its blog the images that have been part of its new edition in 2021. This virtual gallery has been available on the contest website since June 15, the date on which the full list of award-winning images was also published. ExpoNatura is an annual photography contest carried out by the Department of Animal Biology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona that seeks to promote collaboration between members of the university community and nature within the field of photography.

The first place went to Galdric Mossol Clos (student of the Degree in Environmental Biology) for his photography "Elegància i vulnerabilitat". The jury has also awarded the second prize to Jordi Bartolomé Filella (from the Department of Animal and Food Science) and his work "Paisatge amb linx". On the other hand, " Mamba verde", by Anibal Bueno Amorós (alumni of the Master in Travel Journalism), has been the image awarded with the bronze. The contributions of these and the rest of the participants can be viewed in the virtual exhibition of the contest blog.

ExpoNatura was born in the late 1980s at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (between 1986 and 1989). The initiative was carried out for the first time by several doctoral students interested in the field of nature photography in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences, the Office of the Vice Rector for Foreign Relations and Campus. Since then, this competition has received an annual edition in which students from the entire UAB community have been able to show their originality and particular vision of the animal world. The 2021 edition is the first of the contest to be held online. Last year's edition had to be cancelled due to pandemic restrictions.

A video montage with the works of all the participants will be screened at the south entrance of the Faculty of Biosciences. To learn more about ExpoNatura and to know in detail the rules of the contest for its next editions, you can visit its website.
