Judith Panadès elected Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies

Judith Panadès, professor of the Department of Economics and Economic History, was recently elected dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies. Her new team includes Xavier Vilà, Valeri Sorolla, Oriol Roca, Maria Antònia Tarrazon, Àlex Rialp, Maria Dolors Márquez and Jordi Perdiguero. Panadès is the second woman to be elected dean of this faculty.

Judith Panades i Martí, professor of the Department of Economics and Economic History, was elected dean of the UAB Faculty of Economics and Business Studies in an extraordinary session held by the Board of the Faculty on June 22.

Panadès is also an affiliated lecturer at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and researcher at the Markets, Organizations and Votes in Economics Research Institute, honorary member of the Spanish Economics Association, and member of the Executive Committee of the Sport Research Institute UAB.

The new dean received her PhD fom the UAB with a thesis entitled "Essays on Tax Compliance", which received an award from the Instituto de Estudios Fiscales for the best PhD thesis on public economics. Her main line of research focuses on the analysis of specific determinants of tax evasion in different economic environments. Her research has been published in several international journals.

In these past ten years, she has occupied several management positions, such as Vice Dean for Labour Market Insertion, Employability and Work Placements, delegate for the rector in Continuous Professional Development, secretary of the Department of Economics and Economic History, coordinator of the work placement programme of the degrees in Business Management and Administration and Economics in English, and coordinator of the UAB Master's Degree in Sports Management. She was also secretary, treasurer and member of the Education Committe in Economics of the Spanish Economics Association.

In addition to the new dean, the new directing team of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies includes: Xavier Vilà, Secretary; Valeri Sorolla, Vice Dean of the Sabadell Campus and Vice Dean for Labour Market Insertion, Employability and Work Placements; Oriol Roca, Vice Dean for Economics and Services; Maria Antònia Tarrazon, Vice Dean for Teaching and Academic Affairs; Àlex Rialp, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies; Maria Dolors Márquez, Vice Dean for Teaching Quality and Innovation; and Jordi Perdiguero, Vice Dean for Students and Promotion.

As set down in the electoral calendar, the current directing team will continue in office until 12 September and on 13 September the new directing members will take office. Panadès will take over from Professor Héctor Sala, dean of the faculty since 2018, and she will be the second woman to become dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies.
