The UAB among the top 100 in five disciplines

The UAB is among the 100 top universities in the world in the disciplines of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry, Physics, Geography, Communications Studies and Economics according to the QS Ranking by subject published today. The subject of physics receives the highest score. In addition, Psychology, Environmental Sciences, Political Science and Medicine improved their results with regard to previous editions of the ranking, placing the UAB among the top 200 universities in the world in 22 disciplines.

The British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published today the results of the third edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, which classifies the top 200 universities in the world according to 30 of their subjects.
 
The UAB is among the 100 top universities in five disciplines: Agricultural Sciences and Forestry, Communication Studies, Economics, Geography, and Physics. And in the top 150 are the subjects of English Language and Literature, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Chemistry, Mathematics, Law, Statistics, Psychology, Environmental Sciences and Political Science. The three latter subjects improved their positioning with regard to the previous edition.
 
In addition, this is the first time Medicine enters the classification, and can now be found among the top 200 top universities worldwide. The UAB ranks among the top 150-200 universities in the subjects of History, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Pharmacology, Education and Sociology.
 
The QS World University Rankings are considered to be the most prestigious rankings in the world, together with the Times Higher Education and the Academic Ranking of World Universities of Shanghai.
 
In this third edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, 3,002 universities were evaluated, and 689 of them formed part of the classification.
