The project ImAc will last for 30 months and within its framework access services for immersive audiovisual environments will be developed. Coding and retransmission will be also explored both for broadcast and IP, following to the European HbbTV standard. The following access services will be tested: subtitling, audio description, audio subtitles and sign language. The project follows a user-centric development methodology. To this end, tests and pilots will be organized in Germany (Rbb), Catalonia (TV3) and the United Kingdom (RNIB).

The participation of various Catalan organisations in this project reflects the leading role of Catalonia in this sector: the consortium is coordinated by Sergi Fernández, from the research center i2CAT, with the participation of UAB, Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals and Anglatècnic SL. The following partners will also take part in the project: University of Salford, Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (Rbb), Institut für Rundfunktechnik Gmbh (IRT), Motion Spell and Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

The participation of UAB in the project is multidisciplinary. It is led by Pilar Orero and Anna Matamala (Department of Translation and Interpretation and East Asian Studies), with the collaboration of Olga Soler-Vilageliu (Department of  Basic, Evolutionary and Educational Psychology) and Fernando Morales (Department of Publicity, Public Relations and Communication Advertising).

This project can be considered a continuation of two previously funded projects in which UAB took part as participant (DTV4ALL: http://www.psp-dtv4all.org) and leader (HBB4ALL: http: //pagines.uab .cat / hbb4all/).
