Underwater photography of the Catalan coast

Títol de l'exposició

The Science and Technology Library offers you an immersion in the intense colours that hide the waters of the Mediterranean in this new exhibition focused on the photographic work of Carles Casanellas

28/10/2022

Sunlight penetrates the sea and is absorbed by the water. This light contains a mixture of wavelengths that, in turn, are gradually absorbed as we descend. Thus, from a depth of 10 meters, warm colours (reds, oranges, pinks) disappear. Next, the yellows and greens, until reaching a monochrome vision in bluish tones. Beyond 100 meters, the light disappears completely.
The exhibition presented by the Science and Technology Library, based on the photographs of Carles Casanellas, wants to correct the lack of natural light and make you part of the splendid colours that the Mediterranean keeps inside and make you know some of the species that inhabit it.

Carles Casanellas is an architect but also a 3*FEDAS diver, and has been practicing underwater photography for many years. He has published articles and photographs in various digital magazines such as AcuSub, and has exhibited his work, for example, at the Mediterranean Diving Show, the immersion room at the Cornellà fair. In addition, he practices his drawing skills by creating humorous vignettes on diving topics.

We invite you to visit the exhibition until November 22 in the external showcases of the Library and to enjoy the magic of the underwater landscapes.
