The OER are one of the elements that make up the new research model, Open Science. The open education movement aims to support more affordable and effective teaching and learning.

REOs can be courses, teaching modules, exercises, simulations, textbooks, games, multimedia material and other types of teaching and learning materials that are in the public domain or under an open license and are freely accessible , as well as its use, adaptation and redistribution.
