The aim is to reflect on mechanisms of accountability, the role of inquiry committees, and the place of political distrust in institutional design.

The colloquium will feature contributions from experts and researchers from various universities, who will present studies on:

  • Oversight mechanisms in the Ancien Régime and the liberal era
  • Inquiry committees under dictatorships and during democratic transitions
  • Contemporary experiences and debates in Europe and Latin America
