Fátima was accused of belonging to an international drug trafficking gang and sentenced to life imprisonment for drug trafficking in Oman. She was arrested at the age of 18 in a hotel in that country, accused of attempting, though never actually doing so, to transport a package of drugs to Spain. After seven years in an Omani prison, the Sultan recently granted her a pardon during the period of Ramadan.

Lawyer Mònica Santiago, from the Vosseler law firm in Barcelona, took on her defence in 2021. Fátima also received support from businessman Antonio Sagnier and former judge Baltasar Garzón, among others.

In the talk, Fátima will recount how she experienced the entire judicial process over seven years, and she will be accompanied by her lawyer, Mònica Santiago.
