The Fall 2026 semester has officially begun at Study Abroad UAB, welcoming 916 international students to its programmes. This semester, 844 students are joining the Pre-Established programmes, while 72 are taking part in the Business & Management programmes.

The new semester has got off to a great start, with students settling into their programmes, meeting their classmates and beginning their experience in Barcelona.

One of the highlights of this year’s Welcome Sessions was the introduction of a new group activity: The Barcelona Challenge. Designed to help students break the ice and get to know each other, the activity brought students together in groups to create their own ideal Barcelona experience.

Each group was given a different theme, such as The Adventurers, The Foodies, The Green Pioneers, The Culture Team, The Chill Team, The Locals and The Business Team. They had 25 minutes to come up with a group name, explain why their experience was worth doing and share one interesting thing they had discovered about their professors.

The challenge finished with 90-second presentations from each group, followed by an “Applause Battle” to choose the most creative idea.

The activity was very well received by the students and provided a lively start to the Fall 2026 semester, encouraging them to interact, work together and meet new people from the very beginning of their experience in Barcelona.
