Ceremony commemorating the CED's 40th anniversary

The Centre for Demographic Studies (CED) will be turning 40 on 10 February. On Monday 12 February, the centre will hold an institutional celebration at the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya, and an academic commemoration event at the UAB Casa Convalescència will be held on Tuesday 13 February.

INSTITUTIONAL COMMEMORATION EVENT

Monday 12 February at 6:00 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya.

Attending the event will be the rector of the UAB, Javier Lafuente; founding member and honorary director of the CED, Anna Cabré; director of the CED, Albert Esteve; and Minister for Research and Universities Joaquim Nadal.

ACADEMIC COMMEMORATION EVENT:

Tuesday 13 February from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the UAB-Casa Convalescència

Guests will be welcomed to the event starting at 9:30 a.m. From 10:00 to 11:30 a.m a conference will be held on "Ageing: Past, present and future", which will be given by Eileen CrimminsChair in Gerontology de la USC Davis School of Gerontology of the University of Southern California, and by Iñaki Permanyer, ICREA researcher from the Centre of Demographic Studies and head of the Research Group in Health and Ageing.

After a 30-minute pause, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. another conference entitled "Too many migrants? Migration and policy", will be offered by Silvia Giorguli, president of the Colegio de México and research lecturer of its Centro de Estudios Demográficos, Urbanos y Ambiental and by Andreu Domingo, deputy director of the Centre for Demographic Studies and head of the Research Group in Globalisation, Migrations and Space.

Following a break for lunch, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m the ceremony will focus on "Families in the 21st century", a subject that will be presented by Aart Liefbroerm, senior researcher at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI), and by Diederik Boertien, Ramon y Cajal researcher at the Centre for Demographic Studies and head of the Research Group in Family, Inequalities and Social Change.

Simultaneous interpreting from/to English will be offered.
